An opportunity has arisen to recruit an Occupational Health Physician to complement our existing team of contracted Doctors and Occupational Health Nurses.

We are an experienced Occupational Health Nurse Advisor led service, with contracted Occupational Health Doctors.  You will provide expert Occupational Health advice and guidance to support Force objectives in relation to improving and/or maintaining a safe, healthy and productive workforce. Clinical duties will include dealing with complex cases, driver and new recruit medicals which includes eligibility to join a pension scheme for Police Officers. You will also deal with potential permanent disability/ill health retirement cases and provide expert medical advice to the Force on various issues.

Ideally we are looking for someone with some police experience, but certainly you will have the right level of FOM membership and experience.

The prime location will be central Wakefield. However, any applicant must be aware that they may be required to travel or work from anywhere in the Force area. You will already have or be able to develop a thorough understanding of the geographical area of West Yorkshire, and may potentially deal with Officers and Staff located throughout England and Wales at various regional bases or NPAS airbases. You will also need to understand the unique nature of Policing roles, some of which are physically and/or mentally demanding.

This vacancy is a substantive position for 18 hours per week, with a salary bracket of £84,667 to £137,289 pro rata and this will be agreed with the preferred applicant. The successful candidate will be subject to personal and financial vetting checks prior to appointment. The application process will close at 1600 hours on the date shown.
