Hours of Work: Full-Time, Monday - Friday 37 hours per week with a requirement to work outside office hours when necessary to meet the demands of the role.
Location: Primarily based in Occupational Health & Wellbeing (OH&W), Seapark, however the role is peripatetic and travel is expected to occur throughout PSNI locations in Northern Ireland – or as required.

Salary: Agenda for Change Pay scale: Band 5 £28,407 - £34,581 (under review) plus £1365 environmental allowance.
The role holder will be accountable to the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) for the provision of professional occupational health nursing assessment, care, and advice to management and individual clients. The role holder will support the improvement of the health and wellbeing of police officers and police staff through the provision of occupational health nursing assessment, advice and support related to: Fitness for Work, Health & Wellbeing, and Health Protection.
The main duties and responsibilities associated with the role include:
- Conduct health assessments against occupational standards; such as pre-placement health assessments, which include health questionnaires, history taking and physical assessments to include height, weight, vision, spirometry, audiometry, urinalysis and any other requirement as deemed suitable to the role related risk assessment.
- Carry out Blood and Body Fluid post contamination and screening activities, to include liaising with relevant medical professionals and external Agencies.
- Health Protection - Vaccination Programmes, including Facilitate clinics for the Hepatitis B and Travel Vaccination Immunisation Programme, both at OH&W Seapark and PSNI OH&W peripatetic clinics as required.
- Health & Wellbeing, including Conduct statutory and job risk related health surveillance and screening as required, to include height, weight, vision, spirometry, audiometry, blood pressure, urinalysis and any other checks as deemed suitable to role: (training is provided for this).
- Professional, including Ensure all medical records and reports are updated and maintained in compliance with the NMC standards for record keeping, PSNI & OH&W protocols Data Protection Act, and the Government Protective Marking Scheme.
Essential Qualifications
Registered Nurse: Adult Nursing: Part 1 of the Nursing & Midwifery Council Register.
Essential Skills and Experience
- 2 years post registration experience as a Registered Nurse (adult) on Part 1 of the NMC Register.
- Experience of working as a registered nurse in adult nursing or Occupational Health setting; Community Nursing, GP Treatment Room setting and/or Emergency Department.
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience of carrying out a range of vaccinations / immunisations and venepuncture.
