The Occupational Health Service (OHS) is located in modern purpose built facilities in Belfast City Centre and provides comprehensive services to all NICS Departments and their Agencies, including medical advisory services to Civil Service Pensions and a number of Non-Departmental Public and Arms Length Bodies.

OHS is a multi-disciplinary organisation led by the Grade 5 Director; supported by an Occupational Health Consultant, Head of Occupational Health Nursing and Head of Business Support.

Medical Officers work as part of a multi-disciplinary team which includes Occupational Health Nurse Specialists, an Occupational Health Therapist (Mental Health), Occupational Health Technicians, and Business Support staff to provide a range of occupational health services to clients. Medical Officers report to the Occupational Health Consultant and will have the support of the OHS multi-disciplinary team.

The purpose of the post is to ensure that OHS is responsive to the existing and emerging healthcare needs of the NICS and client bodies. This will include professional advice on a wide range of workplace health related issues, health promotion, health protection programmes and input to policy and procedure development.
