Greater Manchester Police, Trauma Focused Psychotherapist

Greater Manchester Police is seeking to recruit to the exciting new position of Trauma Focused Psychotherapist for its Occupational Health (OH) and Wellbeing Service.

The successful applicant will be supervised by mental health professionals and work alongside the wider OH team, providing appropriate psychotherapies to officers and staff with a variety of presentations including trauma, depression and anxiety.

Key aspects of the role will involve:

- Using a range of psychotherapies to support officers and staff following appropriate clinical assessments.
- Trauma focused cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) will be the main trauma management, however experience in eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) may prove advantageous where the appropriate clinical pathway needs to be met.
- Production of quality clinical notes, written reports recording an individual's therapeutic pathway, care assessments, discharge and management advice.
- Experience in identifying and managing and escalating mental health risks and associated safeguarding.
- Delivery of emotional wellbeing webinars/workshops and major incident interventions to the prescribed trauma model.
- Able to demonstrate strong communication, team working and organisational skills, and to use a computerised OH system are essential.
- Be willing to work flexibly at different locations across the Force.

For this specialised role applicants must hold the following:

- L4, L5, BA, PG, Cert, PG Dip or MA/MSc in counselling psychotherapy, CBT, EMDR or equivalent qualifications,
- A minimum of 450 hours of counselling, psychotherapy, CBT, EMDR or equivalent.
- British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)/British Association for Behaviour and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)/UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) or EMDR Association accredited or working towards accreditation.
