The Garda Occupational Health Service, (GOHS) which is a part of Garda Occupational Health and Wellbeing Directorate, is concerned with enhancing the work environment for all employees to reach their full potential, through the promotion of mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and psychological health and wellbeing at every stage of their career with An Garda Síochána.
Services provided by the GOHS include:
-Medical assessment of applicants for entry to Garda Training
-Medical assessment of employees to determine fitness for work subsequent to or during sickness absence and advising on workplace adjustments where applicable
-Health assessment of Garda members for specialised or defined safety critical roles/duties including deployment for overseas missions
-Mandatory, statutory and risk-based health surveillance for employees undertaking duties with defined workplace hazards exposures
-Health promotion and improving health awareness amongst employees
-Giving appropriate medical advice on issues presented where employees are injured in the course of their work
-Researching and advising on matters pertinent to health and safety specifically as it relates to policing
-Liaising with outside bodies in relation to medical matters which have relevance to An Garda Síochána
-Delivering relevant vaccination programmes to employees at risk of occupational exposure to biological hazards
The Occupational Health Physician – Responsibilities:
Candidate must on or before the closing date of 29th September...
-Be currently registered with the Medical Council in Ireland
-Have a recognised qualification in Occupational Health – MFOM or equivalent
-Have experience of medical assessment of employees to determine fitness for work subsequent to or during sickness absence and advising on workplace adjustments where applicable
-Have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team with other medical, nursing and paramedical personnel
- Have experience of providing advice to an organisation on a wide range of occupational health issues including complex issues
- Have experience of identifying areas for occupational health service improvement and implementing effective change
-Have a full current driving licence and have access to personal transportation available for official business
