Session details:

This webinar will describe the science of sleep, the impact that the monthly cycle and the menopause can have on sleep organisation, quantity and quality and the importance of optimising sleep to enhance activities of daily living and better manage other symptoms of the menstrual cycle and the menopause.

Sleep disturbances in some people during their monthly menstrual cycle and in many people living with symptoms of the menopause are common and exacerbate the challenges of activities of daily living.  A knowledge of managing sleep problems in this group is important in order to enhance their quality of life and optimise potential treatment outcomes.

Attendees will gain an understanding of the science of sleep, how different sleep stages are relevant to the experience of disturbed menstrual and / or menopausal sleep, introduce the insomnias and parasomnias which are commonly seen in these people, and identify appropriate treatment approaches for these clients.

After the course attendees will be understand the significance of sleep quality in this group and be able to apply evidence-based interventions to assist themselves and their clients if they are Treating Healthcare Professionals.
