SOM Basics in OH webinar series 2024 - 11. What is Occupational Physiotherapy

Summary: 

This webinar continues our free-to-access series on "Basics in OH". The session will provide a practical overview of what Occupational Health Physiotherapy is, building on previous webinars in this specialist area.

It will focus on the bridge between workplace and usual activities of a physiotherapist, including rehabilitation, workplace assessments, managing work-related MSK conditions through work modification, employee education programmes and emerging educational initiatives for injury prevention, workplace safety and healthy work habits (therapeutic and general exercise). 
 

Speaker Bios:

Cameron Black

Cameron is a MSK, OH and Sports physiotherapist currently working within Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust’s OH Department. He completed a 4-year undergraduate degree at Ulster University and a MSc degree (Sports Med) at the University of Glasgow. At that time, he worked at the Scottish Institute of Sport and the National Sports Stadium, Hamden Park, Glasgow. 
He has recently finished a Doctorate at Glasgow Caledonian University with a Thesis focused on the learning and development needs of primary care physiotherapists (FCPs) in order to provide fitness for work advice and Fit Note certification. He has worked in Singapore, UK and Europe in private practice, public healthcare, and sport. He has a keen interest in work and health and the effect of health on work outcomes and continues to pursue academic publications in this area and clinical practice. He has provided Lead MSK management for BMW, GSK, BoA, BHT NHS employees and delivered large L+D MSK projects for HEE and the BOB partnership. He has embarked on a large cohort study (BUMPER) on burnout, moral injury, and perfectionism in healthcare professionals within the UK setting with results to be published in 2024. 

Lasse Flosand

Lasse is an ACPOHE board member and OH Physiotherapist. He completed his BSc Physiotherapy Degree from Coventry University in 2001, and then worked in the NHS for 4 years. In 2006 he was fortunate enough to start working for IOH, an Occupational Health company with several smaller and larger OH contracts around the UK. 

Since this time, he has worked in several other organisations, both private and public, providing and developing OH Physiotherapy Services in line with each organisation's requirements and needs. In 2009 he set up Nordic Rehab Ltd, a family run company that provides Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Services at home and at work.    

In 2016 he completed an MSc in Ergonomics and Organisational Behaviour from Derby University, and was in 2023 elected onto the board of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE)."
