The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is the UK’s specialist aviation and space regulator. Through its skills and expertise it is recognised as a world leader in its field.
The CAA’s doctors are responsible for certificating medical fitness of CAA-licensed personnel (principally pilots and air traffic controllers), within the required medical standards and overseeing CAA Aeromedical Examiners (AMEs) to achieve and maintain a high level of aviation safety. Medical Assessors also contribute to developing evidence-based aeromedical policies and guidance for the national and International arena, and senior-level candidates would be expected to take responsibility for particular areas of policy or activity. You will have the opportunity to undertake special projects and research, and investigate the implications and necessary actions arising from emerging aviation medical issues.
